 The 1916 Proclamation All

Ireland's equivalent of the American Declaration of Independence and French Declaration of the Rights of Man, remains a progressive, democratic and challengingdocument in its centennial year. It committed the Provisional Government behind the

seismic 1916 Rising to implementing civil and religious equality while asserting the right of the Irish people to national self-determination and sovereignty. Dr. Ruan O’Donnell, Limerick University, will explain the Proclamation's reference to the 'exiled children in America'; as well as 'gallant allies in Europe'.
